Who's behind this

Before this I started and ran a brewery, so I know what it means to put your name on something and serve it to people who will tell you exactly what they think. I have a background in cognitive science, the study of how people judge odds and why we are predictably bad at it. And I have spent enough time around racing to know what the picks business usually sells: winners-only walls, hot streaks, and numbers that vanish the week they go cold.

Stridometrics is what I wanted to exist instead. A calibrated model that prices every horse honestly, says so when a race has no edge, and grades every claim in public, wins and losses. The pools are increasingly played by computer syndicates: calibrated models, batch bets, rebate deals. You can't out-rebate them. But you shouldn't be handicapping against them with a paper program and gut feel either. This is the same class of tool, built for individuals, with the one thing no syndicate will ever offer: a public report card.
